Hello from the center of the sun.
I mean, metaphorically speaking. I’m actually at home here in Austin, Texas, where the daily highs haven’t dropped below 90 in months and the humidity makes taking a shower a somewhat futile effort on the best of days. So it FEELS like the center of the sun. Reckon it’s about time to fill up the kiddie pool and dig out my swimsuit. I hope the temps are a little more mild wherever you are. A few things of note:
1) Father’s Day is this Sunday. But don’t panic; I got you:

2) I’m excited to announce that I’ve been selected as one of five finalists in the Corpus Christi Spring Songwriting Contest (see graphic above). This is my first songwriting accolade here in my adopted state of Texas, so I’m particularly chuffed about it. They’ll be announcing 1st through 5th place toward the end of the month. Will let y’all know how it turns out. I’m also grateful to KOOP radio here in Austin and their sister station Eagle Country Radio in France for spinning my song Thirteen Corners (see other graphic above).
3) The Return of Roxi’s ‘Rona Restorative. Mark your calendars!Episode #6 will be airing live a couple weeks from now, on Tuesday, June 30th at 7pm Central. The theme will be ‘Throwback Tuesday’ – every song I’ll be playing that night was written before 1970, so if you’re into throwbacks – or hell, if you’re just into good music – make sure to tune in via my Facebook music page. A couple months back I ran a quick social media poll and asked you to pick which of two songs I should cover: Carolina in My Mind or Georgia On My Mind (see, they were both on my mind….don’t worry, I’ll show myself out). Georgia won – I’ll be debuting the arrangement that night as well.

PS – Mental health tip: If, like me, your anxiety has been skyrocketing over the last few months, I highly, highly recommend getting outside (in socially-distanced-appropriate ways, obviously). My husband Scott and I hiked 40 miles through the Chisos Mountains and the Chihuahua Desert in Big Bend National Park earlier this month (see other pic above), and I feel a million times better.
