Need a moment of frivolity?

Look! Dogs in costume!

Ok. I know we’re all very stressed right now. Like, extremely stressed. And considering what’s at stake today, ‘extremely stressed’ is a very reasonable thing to be. But let’s all take a moment for a little self-care, because we have to survive today if we’re gonna try to make the world a better place, right? Right. Ok – here we go:

1) Check the position of your shoulders. If they’re up at the same height as your ears, that’s less than ideal. Relax ’em. Now take a deep breath, all the way down to your belly. Let it out, slowly. Perfect. Now try another. Awesome! You’re getting the hang of this.

2) Gaze upon the absolutely ridiculous mutts above – Haggis McHound, on the left, is doing her level best to be a scary spider. Tough to be scary when you’re grinning, but she’s trying. Odin Van Pooch was honestly less than thrilled with her Jester get-up, but I’m happy to report that she forgave me after a spoon of peanut butter.

3) Ok. We’ve had silly mutts and some deep breathing – now time for a peppy, toe-tapping song. Lucky for you, I released such a song just a couple weeks back – it’s called Daddy Don’t Do Politics, and it’s the perfect song to listen to right now, whether you’re waiting in line at the polls to vote or stress-clicking the ‘refresh’ button to see who’s ahead where. You can stream and / or purchase the tune on SpotifyApple MusicAmazon, or right here at my website (PS – if you’re headed to Spotify, make sure to hit the ‘follow’ button, so you’re notified whenever I release new music). And even if you’re a little short on cash like a lot of folks these days, I still want you to have the song. You can download it for free right here thanks to Austin’s NPR station KUTX, who was kind enough to feature Daddy Don’t Do Politics as their Song of the Day on 10/19.

Keep breathin’, y’all. I’ll see you on the flip side. And if you haven’t already voted – get yer keister to the polls.

deep breaths and get ‘er done,
