Sorry About the Meredith show

Hey all!

I just wanted to write a little post to tell you that I’m really sorry the show at Meredith didn’t happen today. My guys and I were all set up and ready to go, but then someone came over and told us that the show had been cancelled by someone up on high at Meredith corporate. If you’ve seen the news today, then you know why. In any event, I apologize to all of you who came out to see us – we’ll be at the Cosmopolitan in downtown Des Moines tomorrow night to play a free show starting at 8pm. And this time, we’re playing. For real. xoxoxo’s ad infinitum.

Farewell Concert Series

Hey all!  Hope you’re enjoying the beginning of summer – I know I am. That’s probably helped by the fact that I’m currently relaxing near a little tiny beach town called Majahual in Mexico. I rented a house on the beach with some friends & we’re hanging out for a week – I needed a little break after my cross-country Youthful Indiscretion tour. And as you can tell from the pic below, I’m definitely enjoying the vacation. Speaking of the Youthful Indiscretion Tour – if you didn’t get a chance to buy a Tour tee when I dropped by your city, you’re in luck, because we just put the official Roxi Tour tees up at my online merch shop

I’ll be back in the US in a few days, and then I’m setting to work arranging the music for that epic show I told you about last month – you know, the one that’s taking place the last two weekends of July at the Temple for the Performing Arts in Des Moines, Iowa. My friend Max Wellman will be co-producing the show with me, along with the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines. And if you’re anywhere in the Midwest, you should buy tickets here now while they’re still available. I have a feeling they’re going to sell out, because it’s my farewell concert series.

WHAT!?! You exclaim. What do you mean ‘farewell?!?’

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention – I’m moving to Canada. Vancouver, BC, to be exact. It’s a long story, but suffice it to say that I need to spend a little time back on my beloved west coast.  Which means that those of you out there will be seeing a whole lot more of me. Those of you everywhere else, I promise I’ll be back on tour, ok?  Seriously.

I’ll be doing one public performance in June, at my favorite stomping grounds in Des Moines – the Cosmopolitan. I’ll be there Friday June 17th from 8-11, & it’s a free show. This’ll be my last show at the Cosmopolitan for who knows how long, & I’d love for you to come hang with us!
That’s it for now – as always, thanks for being a part of this email list & for continuing to support me in my music-making endeavors. You rock my world.

Cheers,

-Roxi

Tour Wrap-Up & Big News!

Hey everyone! A big thank-you is in order to all who helped make my tour an amazing experience – to all those who came to shows, brought friends, bought a CD, posted an event on their facebook page, or let me crash on their couch. I love you. Seriously.  You (yes, YOU) are awesome.

Speaking of my tour, here are a few fun facts for your amusement:

  • miles driven:  4,395
  • gallons of gas:  220
  • cups of coffee:  23 (approximate-I lost count…)
  • # of states I drove through: 14
  • # of speeding tickets: 0 (hooray!)

I played 16 shows in 15 different cities. I got to meet a whole lot of you, share my music & see some crazy things all over this beautiful country of ours. And I can’t wait to do it again.  I’m thinking I’ll hit the road again this fall…

BUT BEFORE THAT HAPPENS – I have a little project taking place in Des Moines, Iowa this summer. Ok, it’s not little.  It’s really big. And seeing as how the official press release went out yesterday, I now have permission to tell you all about it.  I’ll be joining forces with my good friend & ridiculously talented singer Max Wellman and the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines to co-produce a show entitled ‘Max & Roxi: Live @ the Temple. I’ll let an excerpt from the press release give you the details-

Here’s the best part – those on my mailing list get first crack at the tickets, a week before they go on sale to the general public.  On May 9th I’ll be sending you a note with the code needed to buy tickets early.  Just my way of saying thanks for letting me keep in touch with you!

To those who aren’t in the Midwest – not to fear!  As I mentioned earlier, I’m already starting to think about a fall tour…time for me to get to work on some new music for you, obviously. In the meantime, I’ll be playing a couple of shows close to home in May. The first is the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s annual gala at the Knapp Learning Center at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on May 14th. The second is at my old stomping grounds in downtown Des Moines, the Cosmopolitan, on May 20th at 8pm.

Tour Continues

I’m just a little over halfway through my wandering musical excursion around the US, and I’m having a blast. Thank you so much to all the wonderful new fans and friends I’ve met along the way. And, of course, to the old ones too. We’ve had great shows in Ames, Des Moines, Davenport, Omaha, Kansas City, Jackson, Birmingham and just tonight in Knoxville. It’s been grand. But, like I said, we’re only halfway through – I’ve got more shows for you. Come out and say hi. Send your friends and family, too – sharin’ the musical lovin’ is my favorite thing to do in the whole world, and I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to do that.
