Pacific Northwest Tour

Happy Fall everyone!

Normally I don’t embrace the eventual coming of cold weather, but I’m making an exception because I really, really want October to get here. Why’s that? Funny you should ask – October kicks off my Pacific Northwest Tour! I’ve been promising my West Coast fans appearances for a while, and I’m about to make good on that promise. Starting Oct. 13th, I’ll be driving around the Pacific Northwest to share my music with you. Here are the current tour dates:

  • Oct. 13th – SEATTLE, WA. Egan’s Ballard Jam House at 7pm. $8 cover, all ages!
  • Oct. 14th – SPOKANE, WA. Arbor Crest Wine Cellars’ River Park Square Tasting Room at 6:30pm. FREE, all ages!
  • Oct. 20th – PORTLAND, OR. The Camellia Lounge at 8pm. $5 cover, 21+
  • Oct. 21st – OLYMPIA, WA. The 4th Ave at 9pm w/ Lijie & True Margrit. FREE, 21+
  • Oct. 22nd – ABERDEEN, WA (my hometown!) at the D&R Theater at 7pm. $10, all ages. Benefit for the Breast Cancer Alliance of Grays Harbor. Ivy Lyles opens.

I’m playing many of these cities for the first time, so if you have friends and/or family that live in these areas it would really mean a lot to me if you’d let them know I’m coming. Share the events on Facebook, mention them on Twitter, send an email to Uncle Bob – whatever social media you enjoy, feel free to spread the news around! As always, for more info on these dates and others, head to roxicopland.com. Speaking of news…I’ve got some for all of you in the Midwest as well:

LIVE ALBUM RELEASE!

My first-ever live album ‘Max & Roxi: Live at the Temple Theater’ is coming out in October! All those of you who have pre-ordered a copy – we’re sending those out this week. Yay! All of you who haven’t: the pre-order sale ends THIS FRIDAY at 11am Pacific Time. You only have 2.5 days to go order your very own copy! After that you’ll only be able to grab one at a show. If there are any left, that is – we ordered a very limited run & I have less than 35 copies remaining as of today. What are you waiting for? Buy one now & you’ll also be helping me put gas in my car for the upcoming tour. Win-win for everyone! Stay tuned – next month’s newsletter will reveal the location of my free secret Iowa show!

One Week Left

Hey all -

Just wanted to let you know that the pre-sale of the ‘Max & Roxi: Live at the Temple Theater’ album will end on Sept. 30th at 11:00 AM Pacific Time. After that the only place you’ll be able to buy this album is at a show. If there are any remaining, that is. Right now, I only have 47 of these albums left. Period. We ordered a very limited run of this album. So if you want one, now’s the time to order. I’m really excited to share this music with you!

In case you need more convincing, here’s the track listing of the album:

1. One More Time*
2. Hallelujah
3. No More Blues
4. Youthful Indiscretion
5. Take Me to the River
6. Perfect For Me
7. It Ain’t Necessarily So
8. Charade
9. Don’t Explain
10. Play*
11. Look Me in the Eyes
12. The Lady is a Tramp
13. The Kids Aren’t Alright

The tunes with asterisks by them are originals of mine that are recorded here for the first time. I’m a little excited. Ok, a lot of excited.

So what are you waiting for? Head to http://roxicopland.com/merch & order yours today!

Hello From Van City!

Dear Friends and Music Lovers:

Hello from Vancouver, BC! This, as you’ve probably noticed, is my first official newsletter from the Pacific Northwest. I’ve just about finished settling in to my lovely Kitsilano Garden Suite (first floor apartment in a house), and now it’s back to work. Which is great, because there’s a whole lot of music-type things going on. So without further ado:

LIVE ALBUM
‘Max and Roxi: Live at the Temple Theater’ will be sent off to be pressed shortly. That means you have about a week left to order your copy. Go to roxicopland.com/merch to get yours today. This really is your last chance to guarantee that you’ll get one – we’re not putting this album up for sale on Itunes or making it available for digital download. If you want to get your hands on one of these copies, make sure to put your order in! (Psst–check out a couple sneak preview photos at the bottom of this post!)

FIRST DATE IN VANCOUVER
I’ll be playing my very first show in Vancouver, Canada on September 13th at the Backstage Lounge. Doors open at 8. It’s sort of my unofficial debut- I’ll be sharing the bill with a very talented local singer/songwriter by the name of Sheena Marie. Her website is currently undergoing an overhaul, so check her out here on Reverb Nation. If you happen to know anyone who lives in the Lower Mainland (i.e., Vancouver metroplex), send them my way. Or maybe you also have a good buddy in Seattle just itching to get another stamp on that passport. They are certainly welcome to drop on in. And for even more incentive: Anyone who crosses an international border to come see my show gets a free CD. Plus I would totally heart you.

WEST COAST TOUR
Rumor has it I’ll be launching my next tour in mid to late October. Bookings are currently underway, so if you happen to live anywhere between Vancouver and LA, keep an eye out for me. Also, not all dates are booked yet. If you really want me to stop in your home town, tell your local club owner. Then tell me you told him/her. We’ll connect and then you can tell all your friends that you arranged for Roxi to play at your favorite venue. Cool, eh?

BACK TO THE STUDIO
After taking a little bit of time to decompress, I’ll be swinging back by Capp Audio Productions in Norwalk, IA, USA to whip up a full-length acoustic album. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to the project by buying a Youthful Indiscretion single. Your generous support is a key part of making this album happen. (Psst–Iowa peeps, don’t kid yourself into thinking I’d be back in town without playing a show. Keep an eye out for next month’s newsletter for more details.)

Cheers,

-Roxi

Max & Roxi Live CD

One last time, I want to thank everyone who came out to see our farewell concert series at the Temple Theater. Max and I are both truly touched that nearly 1000 people came out to enjoy the show. I know I’m not speaking out of turn when I say that we’re really going to miss all of our Des Moines friends, fans, and fan/friends….fanriend…frand…there really should be a word for this.

In any event, if you missed the show, you can still order a copy of the live album online. Just point your browser to: http://roxicopland.com/merch or click on the store link above. We had the fabulous team at Capp Audio Productions record every night of the farewell concert series. We’ll select the best songs from each night, mix in a little stage banter, add a few photos–maybe even some behind-the-scenes stuff. It’s almost like having your own backstage all-access pass. Or rather, it’s as close as you can get for only $20.  These albums will only be available for a limited time, so make sure to pre-order your copy today!

If you’re following Max on twitter, you’ll notice he arrived in Hotlanta yesterday. I’m still packing up and don’t leave for Vancouver until next week. In the midst of packing, I’m busy working on my Des Moines Bucket List. Got to make sure I hit all of my favourite (working on my Canadian spellings) hot spots including Alba, Miyabi, the Village Bean, Zanzibar, Mars Cafe (did I mention I like coffee?), and, of course, the Cosmopolitan. Speaking of the Cosmo, come on out this Friday at 8:00pm and help me support the launch of the Ian Copland Trio. That’s right: my very own brother is launching his professional musical career just before I leave town. Don’t miss out on his instrumental jazz stylings.

And with that, I’m back to packing. Wish me luck.

Farewell Concert

Dearest fellow music-lovers,

Happy Friday!  Hope you’re all enjoying the end to the work week.  I’d like to start this off with a big welcome to all the new subscribers on the list & a huge THANK YOU to all you Iowans who packed out the Temple Theater last weekend for ‘Max & Roxi: Live @ the Temple’!  We had amazing crowds both nights, and we hope you enjoyed the performances – we certainly loved playing for you.

Starting tonight I have three shows left at the Temple before I drive off into the sunset (read: Vancouver, BC). Iowans, this is your last chance to catch me at a performance for quite a while – we’re on at 8pm tonight & Saturday night, and 7pm on Sunday.  You can buy tickets online or at the Temple Theater Box Office (it opens two hours prior to each show).  If you’ve already been to the show, tell your friends about it!  Unless you didn’t like it.  In which case, feel free to lie. And if you’re still not convinced, click here for the greatest argument ever.

West Coast peeps – I’ll be headed your way starting August 8th, and there have been whispered rumors of an impending West Coast tour sometime this fall. Just thought you should know.

Iowa, I’ll see you this weekend.  Everyone else – soon. Though not soon enough, as always.

Much love, all.  Next time you hear from me it’ll be from Canada!

Cheers, eh?

-Roxi
