September News

Greetings, fellow music-lovers!  Welcome to the September edition of the Roxi Copland newsletter – I’m really excited about several things this month, so I’ll just get right to it.

First off: I have a YouTube channel!

It’s just a baby right now (by which I mean I we just started it, so it’s only got one video and some profile info), but we’re going to be adding to it quite a bit over the next few months, with live performances of your favorite Roxi Copland originals as well as covers.  If you have your own YouTube channel, you should friend me, because I’m new to this whole YouTube channel thing and would love to meet everybody!  Leave a comment, tell me which song of mine you’d like us to upload a video of next…I want to hear from you!

Next exciting thing: Show in St. Louis!

See, I told you I was going to get down to Missouri soon!  I’ll be playing with my friend and St. Louis-dweller Summer Osborne at the Wine Press on Tuesday, Sept. 21st (addy: 4436 Olive Street, St. Louis, MO, 63108). Summer starts at 7pm, and I’ll hit the stage at 8 for a one-hour set.  It’s a free show, so make sure to tell your friends in St. Louis to drop by – looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones!

On to #3 – Esperanza Spalding!

Fab: brilliant jazz/pop/neo-soul artist Esperanza Spalding is doing a show in Des Moines, Iowa soon. (Sept. 18th at the Drake Sheslow Auditorium, if you’d like to go).  I’ve been asked to give a lecture on her music, which will take place Sept. 8th in Des Moines at the Cosmopolitan, and will also serve as the kick-off to the Des Moines Civic Music Association’s 2010-2011 season.  If you live in the area, you should come drink and talk about a fantastic artist with me.

Even more fab: I’ve also been asked to give a mini-lecture directly before Esperanza’s concert on the 18th  at 6:45pm, as well as play the official after-party/meet & greet with Esperanza after her concert.  I don’t have the details yet on how you can get exclusive tickets to the meet and greet, but when I do, I’ll totally post them on my facebook fan page (speaking of which, you should come ‘like’ me if you haven’t already).  The pre-concert talk is open to everyone who has a ticket to the concert.

Last but not least: house concert!!!

I love playing intimate house concerts. Especially ones outside at dusk when there’s plenty of wine available.  Sound interesting?  I’ll be playing a private house concert in Urbandale, Iowa THIS SUNDAY, the 5th, from 7-9pm.  The first 30 to RSVP get seats, and there is a $10 suggested donation.  If you’d like to hear more about how it’ll work, email afinetime4wine@aol.com for details!

Whew!  I think that’s all I’ve got for now.  As always, for more info and for a complete list of September shows, head to roxicopland.com.  And, as always, thank you so much for your continued support – it means the world to me!

Cheers,

- Roxi
