August Newsletter

Happy August! In case you didn’t realize it, it’s stupidly hot outside. Which is all the more reason to find a cool air-conditioned venue in which you can enjoy some fantastic music. I’d certainly love to help you out with that every night this month, but, of course, one can only play so many shows. (And I’ve got a number of private concerts scheduled for this month, but I will draw your attention to a public show of mine on August 20th in the Cosmopolitan Lounge in Des Moines, IA. 8pm- be there). And if you aren’t planning to be around central Iowa this month, might I recommend any particular local watering hole you happen to know and love. Just make sure it’s full of musicians and AC.

I’m sorry that I don’t have as many shows this month as I usually do, but I’ve been kind of busy. As you may or may not know, I sort of got married last month. If you’re really hankering to see some more Roxi Copland, I just put up a new video online here. It’s a clip of me and the band performing Black Out The Blue when we opened for the Mingus Dynasty Band at Prairie Meadows. Personally, I think the video came out pretty well.

At this point I’m guessing that the fact that I tried to slip in the whole marriage thing and then gloss over it isn’t sitting very well. Ok, fine -see below for a picture. It was a great ceremony, a fantastic reception and we had a wonderful honeymoon on the Mayan Riviera. We made it back just in time to play the Little Apple Jazz Festival in Manhattan, KS. (Check out the pics.)

In almost as exciting of news, there’s a fantastic new edition to roxicopland.com– I have a store! So just point your friendly internet browser to roxicopland.com/merch and shop to your heart’s content. Right now, I’ve got CDs and digital downloads available. T-shirts, stickers, and perhaps a few other fun things will be on the way soon.

I think that’s all I’ve got for you, but I promise to let you know about more shows in the September newsletter. I’m not making any promises yet, but I’ve got something up my sleeve regarding shows in the quad-state area. Missouri, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska: you’re on notice. I’ll be heading that way as soon as I can, and I expect to see you at the show.

Cheers,

-Roxi
