December Newsletter

Happy Holidays! A warm December (ha) hello to all of you.  I’m writing this from my home in Des Moines, where we’ve just had 16.5 inches of snow fall in 48 hours.  My front yard looks like something out of Siberia.  It’s that bad. Thankfully I have cocoa and a warm puppy snoring on my lap. Even better, I have some exciting news this month – I head into the studio a week from today to start work on my next CD!  I can’t wait to show you the new tunes I’ve been working on, and plans are already in the works for a spring release party and accompanying tour.  A special welcome to everyone who signed up for my fan list on my last little tour across the Midwest – thanks so much for letting me keep you abreast of what I’m up to musically, and I can’t wait to play for you again soon.

December Performances: December is all about Iowa (not to worry, all you other amazing Midwest folks, I’ll be focusing on you in the months to come)

  • On Friday, Dec. 11th I’ll be playing at a fundraiser for Iowa Democratic senate hopeful Roxanne Conlin at the Des Moines Social Club (1408 Locust St.).  The party will go from 5-7pm, and the suggested donation is $10.  Come have a drink and hang w/ 2 Roxis for the price of one (thanks to the fan who wrote that little line on my facebook page…)
  • New Year’s Eve performance – you can find me with my band at West End Architectural Salvage in downtown Des Moines.  The party’s kickin’ from 8-12:30, and we’ll be playing from 9:30 on until the end. Tickets to the bash are $40, and include an open bar, appetizers from Sbrocco, a champagne toast at midnight, and, of course, great music by the Roxi Copland Band. Call 515-243-0499 to reserve your ticket!

I have a little favor to ask you – Des Moines’ Cityview newspaper is having their annual ‘Best of Des Moines’ contest, in which they ask everyone to vote for their Des Moines favorites..best coffeehouse, best sushi, best wine list…and, you guessed it, best musician.  Last year I was incredibly honored to be voted the winner in this category, and was able to back up my boasting that I had the best fans in the history of the music biz.  I would love it if you would take a moment to go vote on the Cityview site, here. Don’t worry, you don’t have to fill in every category (although if you live in Des Moines, I highly recommend that you take a minute to vote for your favorite local shops and restaurants and help get them a little positive publicity.  And you don’t even have to live in Iowa to vote, which means that if you’re bored at work and want to email all of your friends and fam and ask them to vote for this fab jazz/pop singer you know – you can.  Cool, huh?

I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season, and I can’t thank you enough for all the support – your coming to a show, buying a disc, telling a friend about my music etc. are what enable me to keep playing for music for you, and I’m grateful for it every day.

Cheers,
-Roxi
