Toecicles

Please note for those of you reading quickly: the title of this blog is toecicles, as in toe-cicles, as in toe-icicles, not the other thing. Where is your mind anyway?

Despite what some of your pervs out there may have been thinking, I was referring to this morning’s Des Moines Marathon and how @*%!^$# cold it was at 7:30 am. I nearly lost my toes to frostbite. And, yes, I realize I have no business complaining next to those of you who actually ran–especially those of you who ran in Speedo-like shorts and sports bras. You are certainly braver women than I.

Bitching about the cold aside, I had a great time this morning singing the National Anthem at the start of the Des Moines Marathon/Half-Marathon and the 5K. It’s great to see so many people out dedicated to running a really long way. Again, it would have been nice to be on the other side of the starting line running with you guys. Perhaps next year, I’ll do the 5K or the Half. I would like to give a shout-out to my friend and fellow musician Bonne Finken here. She was supposed to sing this morning, but the poor thing has pneumonia. Everybody should send her good juju so she feels better soon.

Ok, I’m just about done here, but I thought I’d also let you know about the two chances Des Moines Folks have to see me this week. (Non-Des Moines folks your turn is coming soon. Scroll down to the last post for tour details!)
